CAMPUS REOPENING FRIDAY AUG 28,2020 - Updated Thursday Aug 27, 2020 at 9:40 AM

With the minimal impacts seen in our area from Hurricane Laura, Brazosport College will reopen tomorrow, Friday, August 28th. College services will be available from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. All classes previously scheduled for Friday, August 28th will be held.

We will continue to monitor the hurricane and reevaluate the status of reopening campus. We will continue to post updates on the Brazosport College website, and all BC social media accounts.

We encourage everyone to take precautions and use this time to prepare for the potential heavy winds and rain that may impact our area.

Please know the safety of our students and staff is always our top priority.

DROP FOR NON-PAYMENT & ADD/DROP COURSE DEADLINE REVISION

Due to the College closure as a result of the potential impact to our area from Hurricane Laura, the drop for non-payment as well as the add/drop course deadline for the Fall 2020 Semester have been moved to September 1, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.

INFORMATION ON WORK TIME AND TIMESHEETS DURING THE EMERGENCY CLOSURE FOR HURRICANE LAURA

As previously announced, Brazosport College will be closed Tuesday, August 25 at 5:00 p.m. through Thursday, August 27 due to Hurricane Laura. The College's Board of Regents and Dr. Valek have approved that the College will pay full-time, part-time, and student employees for the hours they were scheduled to work but for the Hurricane Laura emergency closure. Non-exempt employees (employees who submit timesheets) should submit their timesheets showing their scheduled hours during the closure period with the comment: "scheduled hours/hurricane."

Additionally, this closure happens at a time when many employees are working remotely. When the College is closed due to an emergency, non-exempt employees should not continue to work remotely during the emergency closure unless they have permission from their supervisor to do so. Those non-exempt employees who work during the emergency closure with the approval of their supervisor (e.g., Campus Safety, Facilities, and I.T.) should submit a timesheet designating these work hours as additional straight time hours actually worked due to the emergency.

Please contact Marshall Campbell at marshall.campbell@brazosport.edu or Amber Amason at amber.amason@brazosport.edu if you have any questions or concerns.
